Recent promotion by Cardi B of WAP-memecoins on X has led to a substantial price drop of 100%. The market value plummeted from $2.5 million to just $139,000 following sales from wallets that had accumulated WAP only five days prior to her post.

On June 3, Cardi B promoted the memecoin Wet Ass and Pussy (WAP) on X, sharing its contract address with the announcement:

This led to a price surge from an opening price of $0.0011 to a peak of $0.0022—an increase of 100%. However, the excitement was short-lived.

Within minutes, the token’s market value fell drastically from $2.5 million to a mere $139,000. According to a user on X who uncovered the wallets’ activity, this decline was driven by holders who had quietly accumulated WAP around five days before Cardi’s post and sold immediately for a profit of 10X.
Cardi reminded her followers that she still held a significant part of the $WAP supply, hinting at another planned pump and dump. This prompted a rapid fall from 2.5 million to 139,000 right after her tweet.

It seems Cardi B retained a substantial amount of WAP tokens from a previous promotion in October last year, when the token briefly reached a market value of $40 million before crashing below $200,000.
The security firm PeckShield has warned about potential malicious activity surrounding this token. Kryptokommentator Patrick Schmitt criticized those engaging with WAP-memecoins under such conditions:
